Terra Rubra Chapter, Maryland Society, Children of the American Revolution

On 22 April 2007, The Westminster Chapter SAR was invited to the dedication of the a new Chpater Flag for this CAR chapter. The ceremony was held at Farm Content, built in the 1790s by Revolutionary War Patriot David Shriver and accessed from Old New Windsor Pike in Westminster, Maryland. Shown below, the farm remained in the family until 1903; it was repurchased by one of David Shriver's descendants in 1972. The house is on the National Register of Historic Register Places and is well preserved.

The Terra Rubra Chapter, Children of the American Revolution, covers the Carroll County region. Founded in the 1950s, the chapter has had a resurgence of interest in the past decade. The first Senior President of the chapter was Kay Turner. Numerous members over the years have served at the state level in the Society. The current resurgence is due to the efforts of Becky Herrick (shown in the picture below on the far right). The most recent past Senior President of the chapter was Alicia Caltrider and the current Senior President is XXX YYYY (in picture below, on the left). The picture below shows some of the current active memebers wo attended the flag dedication.

The Westminster Chapter SAR donated the funds needed to have the flag made. Current plans of the Terra Rubra Chapter are to display it at the upcoming Memorial Day Parade in Westminster. The Westminster Chapter SAR was proud to be able to help the members of the Terra Rubra Chapter, and hope to continue our relationship in the years to come.
