REVOLUTIONARY WAR SERVICE
Military. commissioned an ensign in a Company of Militia on April 13, 1776 commanded
by his brother, Capt. Brice Howard.
Civil. Oath of Allegiance Feb. 28, 1778 before Hon. Thomas Worthington.
BIOGRAPHY
Thomas Cornelius Howard was born about 1745 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He died 20 January 1801 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He married Eleanor Ridgley.
Their home was opposite the Catholic Church at Clarksville, Howard County, Maryland. He inherited the estate of his mother, which embraced the whole site of Clarksville.
His will is in the Annapolis court house, dated 20 January 1801 and probated 24 February 1801; executors were Brice Howard and son in law John Rowan. The text of the will includes the following:
To son Thomas Worthington Howard portions of "Worthington's Range" & "Howard's Chance". To son Henry Howard 5s and confirmed to him that which he had already received. To son Charles "Browns Chance" and "Dorsey's Friendship" commonly known as Ryan's Land, whereon my son in law John Rowan now lives. To son Brice a portion of "Worthington's Range" providing that he paid his daughter Anne Howard L150 and gave her maintenance during life. To daughter Mary w/o Joseph Howard all that they had already received and all the accounts her husband owes, also "Poor Man's". To daughter Rachel Duvall slaves. To daughter Elizabeth Rowan a portion of "Worthington's Range and a portion of "Howard's Chance". To daughter Rachel Young personality and cancel all accounts against her husband. To grandson Thomas Howard of Charles legacy. To grandson Thomas Duvall legacy. Residuary estate including L400 due to testators brother, Brice's estate, to be divided among the children.
