BIOGRAPHY
Joshua Councill, the son of Hardy Councill and Susannah [--?--], was born
in 1712 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia VA and died in AUG 1793 in Isle
of Wight County, Virginia. He served as a Lieutenant of Colonia Militia, 21
Jun 1757. The following report was reorded of his service:
At a meeting held of the Isle of Wight at the Court House of Said County,
On Monday, the 15th Day of May in the year of Our Lord Christ. One thousand
seven hundred and seventy-five, Pursuant to order of Committee of Electing
an additional number of ten new members, Richard Hardy, Gent., having been
appointed a committe to manage election thereof, this day reportede that John
Driver, Jos. Cutchins, Jr., and Joshua Councill, Henry Pitt, Thos Fern, Jethro
Gale, Miles Wilkinson, Wm. Jordan, Edward Godwin and Thomas Smith, Gentlemen
were chosen by the Freeholders of this County for that purpose.
He and his wife had the following children:
1. Goodwin Councill, born 1773 Isle of Wight County, Virginia, died 1841 Isle of Wight County, Virginia, married about 1796 to Pheraby Duck, born 1779 Isle of Wight County, Virginia, died after
1850 Isle of Wight County, Virginia
