REVOLUTIONARY WAR SERVICE
Military. Lieutenant in CAPT Samuel V. Holliday's Company, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Militia. Listed on pay roll 1 AUG-3 SEP 1781; an undated list says company was in 8th Battalion under COL James Johnson.


BIOGRAPHY
John Wakefield was born in 1727, pssibly in England and died in MAR 1793 in Mifflin Co., Pennsylvania. In OCT 1743 he married Martha [--?--] who was born in 1729 and died 22 JAN 1816 in Mifflin Co., Pennsylvania.

John and Martha had the following children:

ii. William, born 10 JAN 1757
iii. Sarah, born 25 DEC 1758 John McVey Sr
iv. Rachel, born 10 MAR 1761
v. George, born 15 APR 1763, married (1) Rebecca Passmore and (2) Hannah H. Howard
vi. Hannah, born 7 APR 1765
vii. John, born 5 JUN 1767, died 20 AUG 1767
viii. Joseph, born 28 SEP 1769, died 10 MAR 1770
ix. John, born 12 AUG 1771
x. Martha, born 20 NOV 1776
