REVOLUTIONARY WAR SERVICE
Military. First Lieutenant in CAPT John Thompson's Company (Pelham Company) of 4th Hampshire County, Massachusetts Regiment.

BIOGRAPHY
James Halbert, son of Thomas Halbert and Margaret Durum, was born 7 MAR 1734 in Salem, Massachusetts and died 16 NOV 1777 while in service to his country. He married on 23 NOV 1760 in Pelham, Massachusetts Jennett Hunter, who died about 1810 in St. Albans, Vermont.

Comissioned a First Lieutenant in CAPT John Thompson's Company, 1 APR 1776, he served with General Gage in the Northern Campaign. Records in the State House in Boston report on 16 NOV 1777 his death while in service.

James and Jennett had the following children:

1. William Halbert, born on 4 JAN 1763 in Pelham, Massachusetts, died on 11 FEB 1827 in Pavillion, New York. He married on 11 MAY 1786 in Goshem, Massachusetts to Alice Bannister, who was born on 6 FEB 1764 in Goshen, Massachusetts died in APR 1856 in Pavillion, New York.
