James Carlisle, Jr., son of James Carlisle, Sr., was born about 1725 in Scotland and died about 1802 in Bath Co., Virginia. in about 1746 in Bath Co., Virginia he married Nancy Rachel Campbell, who died about 1797 in Bath Co., Virginia.

Janes and Nancy had the following children:

i. William born 1747, married "Miss McClure"
ii. Jane, born 1749, married David Gwin
iii. Elizabeth, born 1754, married George Hicklin
iv. James, born 1759
v. Robert, born 1757, married "Miss Griffin of Conn"
vi. John, born 1752, married Rachel Teamster
vii. Samuel, born 1756
viii. Alexander
ix. Nancy, born 1750, married "Sitlington"
